Emily Ricketts, BA
Masters Level Counseling Intern

I believe every person brings their own experiences, strengths, preferences, and needs into therapy. Because of that, I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. I want to get to know you as a whole person and create a space where you can show up authentically, explore what matters to you, and feel valued for exactly who you are.

For me, therapy is a collaborative process built on genuine connection. I draw from Person-Centered, Adlerian, Internal Family Systems, and emotion-focused approaches while tailoring our work to what feels most helpful for you. My hope is to walk alongside you throughout your journey, helping you feel understood, supported, and empowered every step of the way.

Clinical Experience
Emily has experience providing individual counseling to adolescents and adults through her student internship at Monumental Therapy Group. There, she worked with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, OCD, suicidal ideation, anger, relationship difficulties, and self-esteem concerns.

Before beginning graduate school, Emily spent two years as a Patient Care Technician on the senior unit at Avera Behavioral Health, supporting individuals with neurodegenerative diseases and a variety of mental health concerns. This experience strengthened her belief in meeting each person where they are and considering their unique experiences and systems when providing care.

Emily also completed an undergraduate internship at Avera Behavioral Health, gaining exposure to child, adolescent, adult, and senior inpatient units and observing mindfulness, DBT, and CBT groups.

During undergraduate school, Emily facilitated groups through The Body Project, creating a supportive environment for students to learn about and discuss body image dissatisfaction and disordered eating.
Beyond the Therapy Room
When Emily isn’t in the therapy room, you can usually find her reading, crafting, or making pottery. She loves spending time outdoors and has recently started exploring more hiking and camping.
